Point Distribution and factors to be considered

ATTACK

  1. The Goal from a Striker gains him 40 Points. The factors to be kept in mind for this point are a few statistical markers that help us evaluate strikers
  1. Shots/Game
  • This gives us an idea about the team’s overall output and the positioning of a striker.
  • A higher score in this department means that the striker takes a lot of shots which might increase the probability of him scoring a goal.
  • What we also have to notice here is the distribution of this stat along with the team.
  • If this stat is concentrated on only one player, it means that he is a prime goal threat
  1. Shots On Target/Game
  • This gives us an idea about the accuracy of a striker
  • A higher number gives us a greater probability of the striker scoring points
  • It also gives us an idea about the positioning of the striker.

       2. The Goal from a mid-fielder gains him 50 points. This is done to neutralize the positional effect but can be used to our advantage by picking midfielders who play high up the pitch and have a higher chance of scoring goals. The factors for goal scoring stay constant as that of the striker.

  1. Shots/Game
  2. Shots On Target/Game
  • The factor to note here is if a Striker and a midfielder have the same measure of the above-stated stat, then a Midfielder is always preferred over a Striker.

       3. The Goal scored by a Defender gains him 60 points. This is also done to neutralize the positional effect but can be used to our advantage by picking midfielders who play high up the pitch and have a higher chance of scoring goals. The factors for goal scoring stay constant as that of the striker and midfielder.

  1. Shots/Game
  2. Shots On Target/Game
  • This is relevant in the case of wingbacks who play an attacking role.
  • Some defenders have a knack to go forward and contribute to goal scoring and the above-stated stats will help you to identify the better prospects for your team.

      4. A player, irrespective of the position, gets 20 points for an assist.

  1. Key Passes/ Match
  • This gives us an idea of how many chances a player creates.
  • A key pass is a pass that leads to a shot
  • This directly correlates to the assist scoring chance of a player
  • Midfielders and Wing Backs score heavily on this stat
  • Big Chances Created/ match
  • This is like a better version of key passes/90
  • This gives us an idea about the player’s accuracy to create goalscoring opportunities

        5. For every Shot on Target, irrespective of the position, a player gets 6 points. The parameter to be looked at is Shots on Target / Match. This is rather straightforward

        6. For every Chance created, irrespective of the position, a player gets 3 points. The parameter to be looked at is the Key Passes/ Match.

        7. For every 5 passes completed by a player, ears him 1 point. Can be judged through Accurate Passes/ match matrix

  1. DEFENSE

        1. For every tackle won by a player on the field, he gains 4 points

         a. Tackles/Match

  • This gives us an idea about a player’s contribution to the defense
  • This matrix, on its own, can not help you to decide on a captain or vice-captain, but when added to other stats can help in distinguishing players.
  • Defensive Midfielders and wingbacks tend to score higher on this matrix.

       2. For every interception won, a player gets 4 points

  1. Interceptions/Match
  • This is similar to the tackles/match matrix as it can be used in combinations with other vital stats to decide on a captain and vice-captain\

       3. For every saves a Goalkeeper makes, he gains 6 points

  1. Shots on Target/Match
  • The opposition’s shots on target per game give us an idea of how many shots can be saved by a goalkeeper in an optimal condition.

       4. If a Goalkeeper saves a Penalty, he gains 50 points.

       5. If a team keeps a clean sheet, the defenders of the team get 20 points each

  • This is a major factor in selecting a player for the role of a Captain or a Vice-Captain
  • This coupled with the stats of interception and tackle gives us an idea about the efficiency of a defender

      6. The most efficient player in Fantasy Football is a WING BACK (Left Back or Right Back). An attacking Wingback can gain points from Goals, Assists, Tackles, Interceptions & Clean Sheet
