FANTASY FOOTBALL
IN
DIFFERENT PLATFORMS
The Fantasy Football landscape in India is ever-growing. The sport is now being covered by most of the fantasy platforms and hence is a good alternative to cricket when looking for diversification. The Sport that used to be covered only by Dream11 in the past is now a part of various platforms like Myteam11, MPL, Halaplay.
These platforms are similar in some ways and unique in others which makes it very important to understand the nuances of the game on each of these platforms to make a sound decision as to which platforms suit you the most.
This article aims to throw some light on the scope of Fantasy Football on different platforms, the differences in point systems, the similarities and differences regarding Dream11, and finally what kind of thought process will help you to maximize your efforts in the specified platform.
- Dream 11
The point system of Dream11 and the points to be kept in mind while making teams have been covered extensively by Fantasy Arena. The link to these articles is attached for reference.

- My team 11
Myteam11 uses an intermediate point system which has included quite recently, some additional stats apart from goals and assists.
The new point system is good but may sometimes be a little hard to crack as I believe the correlation among points for goals scored and other stats is slightly off-balance

- The point distribution for goals and assists is 20 and 10 is standard to earlier Dream11 point systems
- The issue arises with assists and the passes completed.
- 10 points for an assist and 4 points for every 20 passes is not a fair distinction in my eyes
- An assist is an important part of the game and to be valued as 50 passes is not proportional and might lead to a bit of confusion while building teams

- Defense
- The Points for Clean Sheet to a defender is 10 and toa midfielder is 5 which is a little abrupt as it takes more from a defender to keep a clean sheet than a midfielder
- Dream 11 had a distribution of 10 and 2 for defenders and midfielders for the clean sheet which made more sense
- This system is highly favorable to the midfielders
- Team Formation
- Team formation in this platform needs to be inclined towards maximizing the scope of midfielders
- For clean sheet scenarios, 5 midfielders and 4 defenders would be the ideal formation
- In attacking scenarios, a midfielder needs to be preferred over attackers for gaining points
- No points for tackles, interceptions can make the game simpler and based on fewer variables
- MPL
MPL is a new entrant in the field of Fantasy Football which expanded its Football capabilities during Euro2020.
The point system is archaic and thus allows for a simpler game and is refreshing to play. This also makes the game more dynamic and, in some cases, out of hand as the reduction in variables increases the risk of sudden turnarounds.

- The point distribution for a goal scored stand at 8,9,10 for attackers, midfielders, defenders respectively
- This system highly benefits the attackers as there is not much difference among the points for a goal.
- A striker who has a far greater chance of scoring a goal should be the priority in this scenario
- For every 20 passes completed, a player gets 1 point which does not compute with the goals scored o=in any way. Making this stat almost irrelevant, giving more focus to strikers.

- The point distribution for clean sheet among midfielder and defender is 1 point and 5 points respectively which is a good correlation.
- This mirrors the point system followed by Dream11 in the earlier days. Simplified.
- Team Formation
- The point system in this platform is a throwback to the older times and the teams need to be made keeping the selected variables in mind
- Attackers are a top priority as they are most benefitted by the point system.
- This platform is highly suitable for high scoring matches as the main idea is to choose players who can score and if that condition is fulfilled the passes do not play much of a role
- Wingbacks are to be preferred. They have an edge i=on attacking over the other defenders and also come in handy when the points for tackles are considered. A defender who makes 5 tackles in a game can gain the same points as an assist
- The selection of defenders in 3,4 or 5 defender scenario teams, therefore needs to be made keeping the above-stated logic in mind
- Halaplay
Halaplay is one of a kind. The point distribution, the user interface, and the leagues are far away from any other Fantasy Football Platform out there.

- For goals scored, the point distribution is 4,5,6 points for strikers, midfielders, and attackers respectively.
- The points for passing are based on the quality of the passes than the quantity and hence, are more observational than statistical.
- Points are also awarded for a plethora of other variables like fouls drawn, attacking crosses which makes the game rich in terms of observational gameplay
- 4 points are awarded for a clean sheet which is a lot when compared to only 5 points for a goal from a striker
- Points for defenders come from a lot of means like interceptions, clearances, tackles, and blocks
- Central defenders are often more important as they have a better passing percentage and gain a lot of points from clearances.
- This is the only platform in the Fantasy Football Landscape which is inclined towards defenders
- 5 defenders in every scenario is a must, irrespective of the result
- Center defenders are prime subjects as they benefit from the number of points distributed for passing percentage, blocks, clearances
- The strikers are worst served in this condition and have a negligible chance of being a captain in your team. They can easily be outscored by defenders.
- Central Defensive Midfielders, who tackle and intercept a lot are very important to have in your team in this scenario.
