People say Cricket is a great leveller but I believe that it is the actual representation of our lives in a glamourous way.
When India scored 36/9, in the First Test against Australia in Adelaide, Ajinkya Rahane, the vice captain, was under a lot of flak for running out his captain. Firstly it was his brain-fade moment that costed Virat Kohli"s wicket and in addition to that his own performance was not satisfactory enough to shut down the critics. Infact things went bad in such a way that no body actually gave India a chance and netizens predicted another whitewash for Team India.
But Rahane had other plans. Being appointed as the captain for the remaining series after Kohli's departure, Rahane had a steep slope to climb. Rather than being carried away by the negativity all around, he focussed on his own game and built up his mental strength. And fast forward a week, Rahane led India to one of the most remarkable comeback victories in Australia. He led from the front, was brilliant with his on field tactics, rotated the bowlers well, justified his team selection and on top of that it was his first innings ton that turned out to be the stepping stone in India's victory.
In our lives too, we often find our back pressed against the wall. There are days when nothing goes our way and in addition to that a fault from our end, turns out to be disastrous. Our belief takes a beating and we end up thinking ourselves as a liability. But in this tunnel of darkness too, we need to find the light. We cannot control what goes all around us but we can definitely control what happens within us. Life gives everyone an opportunity to redeem ourselves and it is completely our call whether we choose to accept it or ignore it. Infact Rahane's comeback showcases the fact that if we can end up being the controller of our actions and emotions, there is nothing that can stop us from excelling.
2020 has been cruel. There has been lots of negativities all around. But India's comeback victory has been like a silver lining in the clouds. Infact for me, it still remains as the most positive moment of the "negative" year.
