*GT VS SRH REVIEW- MATCH 62*

*SPARKLING GILL MAKES IT COUNT AGAIN:*

Just as I wrote about Gill’s stunning run of form at this venue, he decides to go berserk and record another memorable performance here. He simply owns this ground- a T20 century here followed by a stunning test ton and now this masterclass. It feels like Gill was made for this. Coming to GT’s first innings, Bhuvi got rid of Saha early, striking in his maiden over itself. Who joined Gill was Sudarshan, playing a game for GT after a while, he did not look even a little rusty as he kept motoring along before he departed for a well made 47 off 36. The next few batters were all walking wickets as only a mere 27 runs were recorded for Gujarat off their last 8 wickets. In the middle of all this chaos came Bhuvi’s four wicket over, bringing back that nostalgia when Bhuvi used to be a force to deal with. He pulled things back for SRH and delivered with a five wicket haul and an economy less than 8. However, Gill’s century was awe inspiring and worth watching, if not for him, GT could have been way under par here but the Punjabi powered them through to a solid 188 for the fall of nine wickets.

*THE ORANGE PLAYER BRIGADE PERISHES AS KLAASEN REMAINS ONLY BRIGHT LIGHT:*

SRH began their chase with momentum on their end, thanks to Bhuvneshwar. Their start was similar to that of Gujarat’s as a first over wicket dented them early. They needed partnerships to keep their ship sailing but wickets kept falling in a flurry. The second and the third over produced another two wickets and SRH were wrecked. By the end of powerplay, The Sunrisers were in huge trouble, having lost four for just 45 on board. Things kept detoriating as a double wicket 7th over from the ever so impressive Mohit Sharma, saw SRH staring at a big defeat. That is exactly when Klaasen took the onus to keep the margin of defeat low and ended up being dismissed for a 44 ball 64, saving the NRR and pride of SRH in an otherwise sorry batting performance. Supported by a run-a-ball innings from Bhuvi and a quick fire 18 off 9 from Markande, SRH fell finally short by 34 runs helping GT book a Top 2 berth by reaching 17 points.
