*RINKU-RANA THUMP CSK:*
A perfect partnership between two best friends saw KKR cruise through a tricky chase. The Rana led outfit started on a poor note with MSD the mastermind being the chief wrecker in three of the dismissals, starting with Gurbaz’s followed by Venky’s and ending with a major blow of Roy, sending him back to the KKR dugout. KKR had lost their soul but their heart was still beating with the skipper and the hero Rinku batting. They batted with precision and sensibility, hitting boundaries at the right intervals to see their team through. Both were succesful at registering half centuries to solidify their case and keep KKR kicking. It was the magic of Rinku that allowed Rana to consume balls and finally finish o a high and together with some fine understanding, they were able to move past the CSK hurdle at Chepauk becoming just the third side to defeat Chennai in Chennai this year, a record which CSK wouldn’t be too proud about.
*THE INDIAN HULK- SHIVAM DUBE THE LONE WARRIOR:*
The entire CSK batting group despite being a stable unit failed to get going. A lot of them had the starts but were not capable enough to capitalise. But it was the supreme sole effort of the tall muscle man, in Shivam Dube, that helped Chennai cross the 130 run mark as he raced away to a 34 ball 48, smashing three sixes in the process and giving CSK something to bowl at and something to take inspiration from. Nursing an injury, this innings was one which had all my heart and must have had all of Chennai fans’s heart as well. To score an attacking 48 on a double paced slowish wicket is some achievement and Dube, today proved his mettle as a middle overs batter once again. Eventually, his knock ended up on the wrong side of the result as Narine reigned supreme and caused destruction with the ball after long cashing in and registering figures of 2/15(4.0)
