THE DRAFT PROCESS EXPLAINED
Squad Restrictions
A team could sign a maximum of 3 overseas players and 3 England Women central contract players. Each squad has to be made of 15 players.
Three - Stage Process
The player selection process in the 3rd season of the Women's Hundred Tournament includes 3 stages.
In the first stage, teams had to retain maximum 4 of their players from last season. During retention, a squad could keep a maximum of three marquee players, which are England centrally contracted players or overseas players, but with a maximum of either two England or two overseas players. Teams couldn't retain three of one category.
In the 2nd stage, the teams had the chance to pick the players who had registered for the draft till 8 spots of their squads are filled. The draft was held yesterday (23rd March).
In the draft, only Harmanpreet Kaur was an Indian player to be picked in apart from Smriti Mandhana who had already been reatained by the Southern Braves.

In the 3rd & final stage, an open market will be in place as it has been during each edition of The Hundred.
The remaining seven players will be signed in an open market basis. The teams would offer their contracts to the players they want in their team & an acceptance will lead to the player's inclusion in the squad.
Squads will be completed by the end of June, before the Hundred gets underway in the Summer from 1st August.
