5) STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES
A) STRENGTHS
(i) All bowling variations available - If you notice the above probable XI, you can see that the team has one offbreak bowler, one left arm chinaman, one left arm orthodox, one left arm seamer and a couple of right arm seamers. They have atleast one player for every possible bowling variation in the side which would surely help them in rotating bowlers according to the matchups against the opposition batsmen.
(ii) The Impact Player's true impact - If we see the above list of impact players given, they probably have the best set of 4 impact players from the Indian domestic set-up, and bringing any one of them into the XI between the game could truly be a game changing move for the Capitals, especially if they lose early wickets or want an extra seamer to bowl in the death overs alongside Nortje.
B) WEAKNESSES
(iii) Only one keeper in the squad - The Capitals relied on Pant as their primary keeper in the squad, and now that he's ruled out, the 24-member squad has no Indian wicket keeper, and the only keeper is Phil Salt, who, if has to play, occupies an overseas spot in the XI, making it tricky to play all 3 of Marsh, Warner and Powell. With Warner being the captain, two overseas spots have to be fixed. If they want an Indian keeper, they will have to rely on Sarfaraz Khan as their keeper, who is also only a part timer at that, and a reminder that he's also injured currently due to which he wasn't selected for the Irani Cup 2023 squad to be played against Madhya Pradesh.
6) NEW ADDITIONS TO THE SQUAD FROM IPL 2022
(i) Aman Hakim Khan - A seam bowling all rounder from Mumbai. He was a part of the KKR Squad in the last season, and just played one game where he only bowled one over, and played 3 deliveries. He's been more of a batting all rounder for Mumbai in the past. In the T20 format, he has scored 153 runs in the 13 innings he's played, at an average of only 17, but a strike rate of 166. With the ball, he has picked up only 4 wickets in the 10 innings he's bowled in, at a strike rate of 30.
(ii) Mukesh Kumar - A young exciting fast bowler from Bengal. He earned his maiden call-up for the Indian team in October for the ODI series against South Africa, though hasn't been capped yet. He has been a part of the Irani Cup for the Rest of India squad as well, and has played some games for India A as well, and is hoping to be capped for India soon. In the T20 format, he's picked up 25 wickets in the 23 innings he's played in.
(iii) Ishant Sharma - He has been an experienced campaigner for India, especially in the longer formats of the game. He hasn't been a T20 specialist as such. Played only 14 T20Is, last time in 2013, and only taken 8 wickets in those. He hasn't played a single domestic T20 game as well. In the last two IPL seasons, he played only 4 games in total, and got only one wicket. His experience would come in handy as a mentor for the young seamers in the side, even if he doesn't play too many games this season.
(iv) Manish Pandey - Another new franchise for him in his IPL career. He started off in 2008 with the Mumbai Indians, went off to Royal Challengers Bangalore, then the Pune Warriors, then Kolkata Knight Riders, then the Sunrisers Hyderabad, and is now coming from the Lucknow Super Giants. He has played under Warner in the SRH from 2018-2021, and they were the league stage table toppers, eventually the runners up in 2018. He has been an IPL veteran and would like to have a good season with a new franchise for him out here.
(v) Rilee Rossouw - An explosive middle order batsman from South Africa. He played in the IPL last in 2015, and is now making a comeback after 8 years! In 26 T20Is that he's played for the Proteas, he's scored 700 runs at an average of 37 and a strike rate of 156. He's been an experienced campaigner for them, and although has only played 4 T20I games in India, he's scored 100 runs at an average of 33 and an explosive strike rate of 189.
(vi) Phil Salt - The only proper wicket keeper in the 24-member Delhi Capitals' squad makes it difficult to leave him out of the Playing XI. He is a proper hit or miss player. Although he hasn't had a good ODI tour in Bangladesh, he has a T20 strike rate of 150, in a 160 games that he's played all across the globe, and a T20I strike rate of 161 in the 13 games he's played. He hasn't played a single T20I in India yet, and will be interesting to see how he goes with these wickets, which are completely different to his usual English wickets.

-> Kuldeep Yadav - Wickets (61), Avg (27.13), SR (19.57) - 59M/57I
8) UNKNOWN PLAYERS TO WATCH OUT FOR IF THEY PLAY
(i) Ripal Patel - An explosive finisher from Gujarat and handy with the ball as a medium pacer. He has a batting strike rate of 153 in the 26 T20 domestic games that he's played. He's been a part of the Capitals since 2021, and only played 2 games each in both seasons. In 2021, he wasn't able to live up to his explosiveness having scored at a strike rate of just 93 in the 2 games he played. And in 2021, he only got to face 3 deliveries in total, and didn't bowl either. He would like to make a mark if he gets an ideal opportunity.
(ii) Vicky Ostwal - An exciting young left arm spinner from the U-19 World Cup 2021-22. He is known for his tight economical bowling. The 4 T20 games that he's played in the domestic circuit, he has bowled at a mere economy of just 4.4. He is also a decent bat down the order. He was part of the squad last season as well, but didn't get a chance to feature in the XI. He would hope to get a chance to make his mark this season atleast.
