The IPL 2021 was the first edition that was played in two intervals. First was in India and it ended in Dubai. However, the change of venue didn't change the fortune of the bowlers as they were hit all around the park by the batsmen.

Today, we will be looking at the 5 most expensive overs that took place in IPL 2021. So here we go:

1. Harshal Patel: 37 runs vs CSK.

We all know that Harshal Patel was the find of IPL 2021 as he became the first uncapped player in the history of IPL to win the Purple Cap. Harshal took 32 wickets in that season that included a maiden fifer in RCB's opening match against the Mumbai Indians.

However he also accounted for the most expensive over in IPL history as well as in 2021 with 37 runs against Chennai Super Kings. Harshal had figures of 3/14 in his 3 overs but went for 5 sixes in the last over. And the batsman who hit Harshal for 37 runs was none other than Sir Ravindra Jadeja.

2. Sam Curran: 30 runs vs KKR.

Sam Curran faced the wrath of Pat Cummins in a high run chase. Chasing 220, KKR found themselves in all sorts of trouble at 146/7. However Pat Cummins had some other plans. He smashed Curran for 4 sixes and 1 boundary and scored 30 runs in a single over. Although Knights lost the match but Curran found his name in the record book.

3. Shivam Mavi: 25 runs vs DC.

Shivam Mavi was taken to cleaners in the very first over of the match by his U19 skipper Prithvi Shaw in an IPL group stage match. Mavi started off with a wide but conceeded 6 boundaries in the next 6 balls thus accounting for 25 runs in a single over.

4. Sandeep Sharma: 24 runs vs RR.

Sandeep Sharma is known for bowling the most number of dot balls in the Power play overs. But he also has an unwanted record to his name. Against a match against the Royals, Jos Buttler hit Sandeep for 1 boundary and 2 consecutive sixes before getting out the next ball.

Sandeep's joy was however shortlived as David Miller who walked in to bat after Buttler's dismissal smashed the next ball for a six.

Shardul Thakur: 24 runs vs KKR.

Shardul Thakur is known for his economical bowling but he too faced the wrath of Andre Russell and went for 24 runs in a match against KKR.

Chasing 220, KKR under Andre Russell launched a vicious counter attack. He hit the first ball for a six. Shardul bowled 2 wides next but was sent for a boundary and six in his next 2 balls. Although he bowled 2 dots next but was taken to cleaners in the last ball.
