Top 5 Overseas Debuts to look forward in IPL 2022.

The IPL has proven to be the ideal launch pad for many overseas crickets over the years. Infact, it is the IPL that has recognized talent more often than others and there have been many instances where the players have made successful IPL debuts before and later went on to make their debut in International cricket. The likes of Jasprit Bumrah, Faf du Plessis, Glenn Maxwell, Jason Holder, Jofra Archer etc are few players who made their IPL debuts before playing T20 cricket for their respective countries.

Today we will be looking at 5 overseas debutants in IPL 2022.

1. Dewald Brevis: Ab de Villiers might have retired from IPL cricket but there is a Baby AB in the form of Dewald Brevis waiting to be launched. Brevis made name for himself in U19 cricket after scoring 506 runs. His batting stance, all-round shot making abilities has often been drawn similiarities with Ab de Villiers. Brevis was brought in by the Mumbai Indians for 3 crores in IPL 2022 Mega Auctions.

2 .Odean Smith: If it was Baby AB first, it is Dre Russ junior next. Odean Smith first grabbed the eyesight of many when he was tonking sixes for fun in T10 cricket. The 25 year old having similar attributes to Andre Russell made his way to the IPL 2022 Mega Auctions next where he was brought in by the Punjab Kings for a whopping 6 crores. He justified his selection instantly as he tonked an unbeaten 8 ball 25 in his debut IPL match and took his team over the finishing line courtesy 3 humongous sixes.

3. Noor Ahmad: The 17 year old uncapped Afghan spinner Noor Ahmad is the next player in our list. Noor Ahmad has been an established U19 star for the Afghan cricket team and has already played in the BBL, PSL and the LPL in his career. A chinaman with ability to hit long balls down the order, Noor Ahmad was brought in by the Gujarat Titans for a base price of Rs 30 lakhs.

4. Chamika Karunaratne: The 25 year old Srilankan all-rounder Chamika Karunaratne is in line to make his IPL debut too. Karunaratne who is a medium fast bowler and a more than handy lower order batsman has impressed many in the limited opportunities he has got. His all-round exploits has earned him a debut IPL call where he was roped in for Rs 50.0 lakhs by Kolkata Knight Riders.

5. Dushmanta Chameera: The young Srilankan pacer Dushmanta Chameera has impressed with his raw pace and movement in Srilankan colors. His international exploits earned him an IPL call-up where the Lucknow Super Giants booked him for Rs 2.0 crores. However this isn't his first IPL stint as he warmed the bench for the entire 2018 IPL season after being brought in by the Rajasthan Royals. He didn't take enough time to impress as he sent stumps flying of Vijay Shankar in his debut IPL match. Chameera ended up taking 2 wickets in his debut IPL game and was highly impressive with his line and length and toe crushing yorkers.
