BCCI has announced the final draft of players who are slated to go under the hammer on February 12 and 13 in Bengaluru at the IPL Auctions. As many as 590 players have been shortlisted for the 15th edition of the Indian Premiere League that will get underway from the last week of March.
Among the 590 players, 228 are capped players, 355 are uncapped players and 7 belong to Associate Nations. As many as 48 players have chosen to place themselves in the Rs 2 crore bracket which is the highest reserve price. Out of these 48 players BCCI has identified 10 players, who will be designated as the Marquee Players for the IPL 2022 mega auctions.
Additionally 20 players have nominated themselves for the Rs 1.5 crores bracket and 34 players have opted for the Rs 1 crore bracket.
Notably this list includes, 6 overseas cricketers and 4 Indian players. The marquee players list is as follows:
Ravichandran Ashwin.
Pat Cummins.
Quinton de Kock.
Trent Boult.
Shikhar Dhawan.
Faf du Plessis.
Shreyas Iyer.
Kagiso Rabada.
David Warner.
Mohammed Shami.
The BCCI has increased the number of Icon players from 8 to 10 after 2 new franchises from Lucknow and Ahmedabad have filed their names for the upcoming IPL 2022 Mega Auctions bringing the total number of teams in IPL to 10.
Ironically all these players have the highest probability of getting the maximum bid in the upcoming IPL Auctions.
With the 10 teams retaining 28 players already it would be interesting to see how the franchises decide to rope in these marquee players keeping the balance and dynamism of the teams in mind.
