The IPL 2022 mega auctions is scheduled to take place on February 12th and 13th in Bengaluru.
As many as players that includes 896 Indian players and 318 Overseas Players have nominated their names for the Auction draft.
On one hand, 41 players from Associate nations have nominated themselves in the auction process whereas on the other big names like Universe Boss Chris Gayle, Ben Stokes, Jofra Archer and Joe Root have skipped the IPL auction. Even the Curran Brothers Sam and Tom have not put up their names for the Auctions.
The reason why the IPL auctions is termed as a Mega Auction is purely due to the amount of big names that feature in the Auction Pool. Also the BCCI has decided to scrap the Right to Match (RTM) card for the upcoming auctions which indicates that there will be many unpredictable selections in all the franchises. Lastly, with the inception of two new franchises from Ahmedabad and Lucknow, the auction process is set to be more engaging.
With all the teams having declared their list of retentions already, the 10 teams have limited purse available out of the allotted 90 crores for each IPL team in the auction.
So having said so, all the eyes will be eagerly waiting on the IPL auction table and it will be an interesting watch to see which players finally go under the hammer and get that exclusive IPL contract.
