Records are meant to be broken. This proverb has been proven time and again on the cricket field for years now. The game has evolved so drastically nowadays that even the records that looked invincible a decade back are on the verge of getting broken anytime soon.

Today, we at Fantasy Arena will discuss 10 such cricketing records that are impossible to get broken anytime soon.

There are innumerable such records but I have selected only 10 out of them.

1) Bradman's Average: Cricketing records are incomplete without the mention of the Don of Cricket, Sir Donald Bradman. Bradman boasts of a swashbuckling average of 99.94 in his Test career. The southpaw played 52 Tests in his career, scored 6996 runs and had 29 centuries in his name. No other batsmen in the world comes closer to Bradman in terms of average.

Apart from this, Bradman also holds an uncanny stat to his name. He scored 300 runs in a single day in a test match. Doesn't it sound amazing? What sounds more impressive is that he didn't hit a single 6 in that game. Infact, Bradman has hit only 6 sixes in his entire career.

2) Tendulkar's 200 Tests: Sachin Tendulkar made his India debut say back in 1989 while he bid adieu to the game in 2013. In his 24 years illustrious career, Tendulkar achieved many milestones that includes over 34000 international runs and 100 centuries. But the only record that one can guarantee to stand tall is the 200 Test matches that Tendulkar played in his career. The current active player chasing this feat is England's James Anderson but it is highly unlikely the pacer will be able to breach this mark.

3) Player played with maximum opponents: Sachin Tendulkar played 664 international matches in his career so it may seem apparent that he faced the maximum number of opponents in his entire career. But it is not so. Infact, it is Ireland's Kevin o Brien who has played with the maximum number of opponents in his entire career. The Irish Cricketer played with 883 international opponent players as Ireland has played most of its matches against European and other associate nations of late. This record too should not be broken anytime soon.

4) Murali's 800 Test wickets: The Wizard of Spin bowling scalped 1347 wickets in his international career. That includes a record breaking 800 wickets in Tests. Murali played 133 tests to achieve this feat. The next bowler on the list is Shane Warne with 708 scalps. The only active bowler in the list is James Anderson with 639 wickets. And given the tenacity of the game this record is highly unlikely to be broken.

5) Brian Lara's 400: The Prince of the Carribean holds the highest score in Tests by a batsman with a record 400 not out. Lara played a not so impressive innings to achieve this feat. The current style of Test Cricket has grown more result oriented so chances of seeing another 400 in the game is very rare.

6) Australia's consecutive World Cup victories: In the history of the ODI World Cup, Australia is undoubtedly the most successful World Cup Team. The Kangaroos won the World Cup 5 times that includes 3 consecutive World Cup titles in 1999, 2003 and 2007. Barring this Australia holds the record of the maximum consecutive number of victories in World Cup with 25 wins. Infact, Australia had 2 unbeaten World Cup Campaigns in 2003 and 2007. This record too is highly unlikely to break anytime soon.

7)Maiden Super Over: The Super Overs were designed to determine the winner of a game in tied situations. The batsmen generally goes berserk while batting in super overs but there has been an instance when the bowler bowling the super over managed to inflict a maiden by beating the batsman every time. This feat was achieved by Sunil Narine while bowling in the Carribean Premier League.

8) Jim Laker 19 wickets in a Test Match: Till date only 3 bowlers have been able to scalp 10 wickets in an innings in a Test match. The list includes Jim Laker, Anil Kumble and Ajaz Patel. Laker was the first to achieve this feat and unlike his successors he went a step further. Laker ended up picking 19 wickets in that game that included 9 wickets in the second innings. Unless there arrives a bowler who could pick 10 wickets in both the innings, this record is likely to stay.

9) Miandad and Tendulkar's record World Cup Appearances: Do you know who as the maximum World Cup appearances? It is Ricky Ponting who featured in 46 World Cup Matches. But the two time World Cup Winning captain featured only in 5 World Cup editions. The record of featuring in the maximum number of editions World Cup is 6 and it is jointly held by Sachin Tendulkar and Javed Miandad. Tendulkar featured in 45 World Cup Matches ranging from 1992 to 2011 whereas Miandad featured in 33 from 1975 to 1996. Given the current standard of the game it is highly unlikely that any player from current era will get to feature in more number of editions.

10) Mark Boucher's 998 dismissals: Mark Boucher's 998 dismissals in his career is another milestone that may not get over soon. Boucher played for South Africa from till and was the sole guardian behind the stumps for the Proteas. He could have easily effected his 1000th dismissal but an unfortunate eye injury cut short his international career. Boucher is followed by Adam Gilchrist who has 905 dismissals to his name.

Other mentions:

•Sir Jack Hobbs 61760 FC runs and 199 FC centuries.

Chaminda Vaas 8 wickets in an ODI Innings.

Rahul Dravid's 44152 minutes at batting crease and faced 31258 balls in Test Cricket.
